With junk food makers being the gurus in marketing and plastering your kids' favorite cartoon characters all over their boxes, it's hard to get your kids to east the right stuff. You kind of have to play a modern day Houdini and come up with creative ways to get your kids to eat their fruits and vegetables. So take it from these quick, 10 easy tips to getting your kids to eat fruits and veggies.

1. Get rid of the junk – If you don't eat it, they won't.

2 Add cheese – Add butter and cheese to any veggie to make em yummy.

3. Veggies First – Serve the vegetables first, wait till they're done with them, and THEN feed them the rest of their meal.

4. Peanut Butter and Caramel Galore -Serve things like celery, carrots, apples with a side of natural peanut butter or hydrogenated-free caramel.

5. Special Sauce – Make some steamed vegetables, and then pure’ them into a food processor. Add your favorite spaghetti sauce, and mix that all together. Use that as your spaghetti sauce, and your kids will never know the difference!

6. Apple Crisp – My husband sneaks apples into my toddler by baking them into an apple crisp. The Food Network’s web site is full of great recipes.

7. Smoothies – My toddler and now even my baby girl love love love smoothies. I have a couple great recipes in one of my blog entries. And the great thing is, you’ll love them too!

8. Local Farmer’s Market – Call your local market to see if they’ll let you do that. That way, your child makes an activity out of it. They’ll pick their own fruit and be proud of it, so it’ll be fun for them to eat it, too.

9. For the Love of Ice Cream – Your kids love ice cream, but you don’t like the fat. A healthier alternative to it is making gelato. Here’s some great recipes. And it is absolutely delicious.

10. Layer it up – Make a parfait out of fruit and yogurt! This concoction is also usually great for sneaking medicine into your child’s tummy whenever they are sick!

With these easy tips, you toddler will get used to eating the vegetables, and really learn to appreciate their flavor. Soon enough, they will be begging for them, and you’ll actually have a hard time keeping your fridge stocked with them! And remember, when they start whining for cookies or candy, simply distract them by showing them the yummy healthy foods in your fridge.

Not to mention, nowadays cartoons and kids’ shows are very careful to emphasize the importance of eating fruits and veggies. A lot the episodes of these kids’ shows also usually show their characters eating healthy stuff other than junk. So that is a big help as well. So if you wonder why your child is all of a sudden crying about wanting corn, apples, oranges, broccoli, or carrots, you’ll know you’re doing things right, and to keep at it!
