Welcoming a new baby into the world is an exciting and a stressful experience at the same time. The mere thought of having a bundle of joy in your home can really get you thrilled about having a youngster in your family. The perfect baby shower can really help you prepare before the baby arrives.

How do you ensure that you are able to host an unforgettable baby shower? Asking fellow moms about their own personal experiences, as well as some encouragement from your family members and friends can really make the process a lot easier for you. Here are some key questions you may need to ask yourself to help you plan.

• When are you having it? Being able to set on a date weeks in advance would not only help you get your party organized before the event. Make sure that you get to send the invites out early so that your guests can plan their schedules accordingly. It’s always advisable for you to ask for RSVPs so that you have a rough estimate of the number of guests attending. You can opt to use email invitations so that it’s easier and more accessible for them to respond.

• Who’s coming? This is not going to be any problem at all if you are holding it in your house, but for larger parties, make sure that you are able to book the venue in advance. The last thing you want is stressing over where to host your party after all the invites have been sent. Have you already thought about the food you’ll be serving? You can choose to cook the food yourself or hire a catering service. The cake should also be prepared well in advance, so make sure you contact your local bake shop at least a few weeks before the actual date of the baby shower.

• What’s the theme? Thought of your theme yet? Your theme can be dependent on the gender of your baby. It could be a boy inspired theme, like sports or racing, and if your little one’s a girl, it can be flowers, dolls or anything pink. You should be able to think of your theme before you send out invitations so at least the invites will complement the overall theme of your baby shower. You can check out a lot of online stores or party shops that specialize in birthday parties, baby showers and various events. They will not only be able to provide a good theme for you, they can also give you discounts for bulk orders and throw in some freebies for your party.

• How do I decorate? If you do know the gender of your baby, then that makes decorating a lot easier! For baby boys, sports themes are probably one of the most common. You can also try a superhero motif, a jungle party or even one with race cars. Other moms do away with the theme and just stick to the color blue in all their decorations. For little girls, you can let loose with famous cartoon characters and fairy tale heroines! There’s Barbie, Minnie Mouse, Dora the Explorer, Snow White and several others. Typical color would be pink, but you can choose a different color if you like. Baby showers for girls have a very feminine touch to it, so this means lots of flowers, pink balloons and dainty items.

Having a baby can be stressful enough, so planning for the perfect baby shower should be the least of your worries. With these baby shower essentials, you can avoid feeling frazzled about hosting a party for your child. If you have friends or family members that hosted baby showers before, it may be best to ask their opinion, or even help you out! This could be a great bonding experience, so it’s important for you to have fun in the process.
